Why Safe Yakima Valley?
At Safe Yakima Valley, we focus on prevention. We arm youth and families with tools, education, and activities to empower them to make positive choices to create opportunities for success. One way we do this is through the Safe Yakima Valley Youth Mentoring Program. We match youth ages 11-17 who have been adversely impacted by opioids with caring mentors. Click here to learn more
100 JOBS FOR 100 KIDS
Over the last four years, the “100 Jobs for 100 Kids” program has placed over 400 youth into summer jobs, with hundreds more receiving helpful job-readiness training.
YOUNG LADIES LAW & JUSTICE LEAGUE
Safe Yakima Valley, in collaboration with the Yakima Police Department, Yakima County Sheriff's Office, and professional law and justice volunteers, have teamed up to provide young women in the Yakima Valley a mentoring program for several years.
Today, this program is expanding to include mentees in the Safe Yakima Valley Mentoring Program, made possibly by a grant from the Office of Juvenile Justice Detention Prevention. Our goal is to provide Yakima's youth opportunities to better understand our local law enforcement career opportunities and gain access to leaders in law enforcement, including judges, attorneys, prosecutors, police officers, and other law-related occupations. To be a mentor or inspire a youth as a guest speaker, email our youth mentoring program coordinator by going to our contact page.
